Landlady of Cool… Belvidere Place is where you may bump into a supermodel, a restaurateur or just someone who needs time ‘to get their head together man’. It’s run by the extraordinary Jilly Sharpe, often to be seen with a brolly and Stetson, and the kind of person who manages to keep two fires burning at once while pouring a quick sharpener and dispensing advice on where to eat. All this in exquisitely cosy surroundings and with terrific breakfasts too. Jilly is full of warmth but also senses if you want to be left alone, which is how a great landlady should be – she is truly one of the best.”

“Belvidere Place, an intimate boutique hotel in Broadstairs, is a favourite among creative, media and technology companies. This double fronted town house, built in 1800, is decorated with extraordinary salvage…the firelit sitting room, with its 1930’s table football, doubles as a conference room. Breakfast is hearty, but there is no menu: the dishes change daily. Blood sausage and apple parmentier is a highlight.”

“The description by its convivial owner, Jilly, as ‘just our house really, with a load of old tat in it’ belies its evangelical reviews and swathes of reverential visitors. This relaxed gem of a B&B in Broadstairs is decorated in hues of moody greys, antique furniture and original artwork. This is where we spent our anniversary and it is indeed a very special place, very welcoming, very stylish, and it serves a bloomin lovely breakfast.” Click HERE to read the full review

“We checked into Belvidere Place, a stylish bed-and-breakfast in a Georgian townhouse opened four years ago by Jilly Sharpe, a photographer from Southeast London. Ms. Sharpe said the idea was for guests to feel as if they were in her home, but also to have a place where much of the art and vintage furniture that adorns the hotel is for sale, as in a French atelier.”  Click HERE to view full review
