The Telegraph, 13 April 2011

“Fun, slightly bonkers and delightfully different, Belvidere is a seaside gem.”

The Times, 7 July 2011

“Its five chic rooms have eclectic but uncluttered decor – a mix of ‘odd antiques’, from lovely Art Deco pieces to retro leather sofas.”

Waitrose Weekend, Hotel of the Week, 7 July 2011

“Rarely has the word eclectic seemed more apt… More home-from-home than hotel.”

Condé Nast, December 2011

“Belvidere Place is a genuine one-off. Samphire, smoked salmon, flowers and organic lavender bath oils, flaming log fires and table football.”

The Sunday Times, 5 November 2011

“Breakfast, which consists of whatever is seasonally to hand – delicious stewed plums, maybe, or cherry tomatoes and basil – is not to be missed.”

Elle, 20 May 2011

“Belvidere Place is owned and run with great warmth by Jilly Sharpe. The rooms are comfortable and decorated with unusual flair, and the breakfasts are memorable.”

Alex Polizzi, The Telegraph, November 2012

“We checked into Belvidere Place, a stylish bed-and-breakfast in a Georgian townhouse opened four years ago by Jilly Sharpe, a photographer from Southeast London. Ms. Sharpe said the idea was for guests to feel as if they were in her home, but also to have a place where much of the art and vintage furniture that adorns the hotel is for sale, as in a French atelier.”  www.nytimes.com/2014/06/29/travel/the-art-crowd-returns-to-kent-england.html?smid=tw-share&_r=1

“Stay at Belvidere Place b & b, Broadstairs, a breath of fresh air with its mixture of contemporary and vintage furnishings and seasonal, locally sourced food on the breakfast menu.” www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/destinations/europe/uk/8594510/Britains-20-best-beaches.html

The Telegraph, 17 June 2014

“The description by its convivial owner, Jilly, as ‘just our house really, with a load of old tat in it’ belies its evangelical reviews and swathes of reverential visitors. This relaxed gem of a B&B in Broadstairs is decorated in hues of moody greys, antique furniture and original artwork. This is where we spent our anniversary and it is indeed a very special place, very welcoming, very stylish, and it serves a bloomin lovely breakfast.”

Five Great Places to Visit in Broadstairs, Hannah Bullivant, Huffingtonpost.co.uk, 31 July 2014

Landlady of Cool… Belvidere Place is where you may bump into a supermodel, a restaurateur or just someone who needs time ‘to get their head together man’. It’s run by the extraordinary Jilly Sharpe, often to be seen with a brolly and Stetson, and the kind of person who manages to keep two fires burning at once while pouring a quick sharpener and dispensing advice on where to eat. All this in exquisitely cosy surroundings and with terrific breakfasts too. Jilly is full of warmth but also senses if you want to be left alone, which is how a great landlady should be – she is truly one of the best.”
